Who Is Paul in MobLand? Paul O’Donnell’s Style, Explained

Put Paul O’Donnell next to Harry Da Souza and you get two different versions of the same problem. Both men work close to the Harrigans. Both need to look at home wherever the family sends them. Tom Hardy’s Harry gets the attention, but Emmett J. Scanlan’s Paul gives us a better excuse to talk about a surprisingly useful menswear skill: looking sharp enough to belong in the room without looking like you dressed for the occasion.

Who is Paul O’Donnell in MobLand?

Paul O’Donnell is the Harrigan family’s head of security, played by Irish actor Emmett J. Scanlan. He works close to Conrad Harrigan, played by Pierce Brosnan, while Harry Da Souza is the family’s fixer. That distinction matters. A fixer is brought in to handle a problem. Paul’s job keeps him close to the people who create the problems in the first place. Anthea Represents’ Season 2 cast announcement identifies both roles.

What Paul’s wardrobe says about his job

The best way to read Paul’s clothes is to look at him alongside Conrad. Conrad can afford to dress like a man who expects everyone else to wait. Paul has to look presentable in Conrad’s company and still seem like someone who might have to leave the room in a hurry. There’s a useful tension there, between polish and practicality.

The two images give you different ways to see him. Beside Harry and Dean, Paul is part of a group, and you notice how easily his look fits the scene. Beside Conrad, the difference in rank is easier to read. Clothes can tell you who runs a room and who is there to make sure it keeps running.

How to wear the Paul O’Donnell look

Start with a dark jacket that sits cleanly at the shoulders and has enough room to wear over a fine knit. A charcoal wool blouson or a plain navy jacket is a good place to start. For the layer underneath, try a dark merino crewneck or a mock neck. A small change in texture between the jacket and the knit does more for the outfit than adding another colour.

For trousers, try straight-leg charcoal wool or dark denim with an even wash. Finish with plain black leather boots. If everything feels too flat in daylight, swap one piece for deep olive or tobacco brown. Keep the biggest contrast near the face, where the knit meets the jacket collar.

I’d wear the wool trousers for dinner and the denim for a Saturday in town. The jacket, knit and boots can do both. That’s the part worth borrowing from Paul: an outfit that makes sense in more than one room.
